Circularity for Electronics: Proceedings Report
In 2024, IPC International, Inc., now known as Global Electronics Association, with peer electronics associations and electronics industry colleagues, convened several in person and virtual events during which we discussed circularity for electronics. The aim of these events was to identify problems the industry faces related to circularity. We wanted to understand how circularity affects the industry from the points of view of individuals, companies, organizations, and sub-industries.
Key learnings from these convening events are published in this proceedings report to document the findings and highlight the problems with the intention that we can work towards resolving these problems through collaborative, industry-led solutions including standards, education, advocacy, and technical solutions.
These proceedings document a multi-month effort to engage with relevant stakeholders to gather insights into the pressing problems that prevent circularity for electronics, demonstrate the breadth and depth of problems, as well as the fact that we see similarities and themes across this broad and deep topic area, and document the ideas for next steps. As such, the proceedings form the foundation of an action plan for industry.
